About Kelly Hansen

“You can best serve the person you used to be.”

I started “planting” in my yard 25 years ago knowing absolutely nothing about plants and gardening.  YouTube hadn’t been invented, and I literally didn’t know how to correctly water a plant.

Every year like clockwork, I would go to the nursery, buy plants “because they look so pretty,” plant them where they didn’t belong and watch them die a slow painful death.

Those were expensive mistakes!!

Fed up with burning through time and money, I hunkered down to learn about gardening.  Finally, I began to rack up more successes than failures and gained invaluable experience.

In 2021, I enrolled in the Gardening Certificate program through the New York Botanical Garden  to learn the science of plants, soil, diseases etc. and the principles and techniques of design.  Fast forward to today, I have gardens that have been featured in Fine Gardening magazine online Garden Photo of the Day and on the Bethlehem Garden Club Tour.

My approach combines formal training with hard-won practical experience. I understand the science of what makes plants thrive and how to use form, color, texture in your landscape.

When I work with clients, I’m not just designing gardens—I’m sharing everything I wish someone had taught me 25 years ago.

The greatest joy in my work is seeing clients’ faces light up when they realize that yes, they can have that beautiful views they’ve always wanted—and no, they don’t have to figure it all out alone.
